A Pear

Tonight my oldest brother, Clinton (I call him Chuck) phoned me and invited me to come visit to have a pear. That’s so cute, a pear. I HAD to go, I tried to stay away because he lectures so much about my life. I felt guilty too because he has a 9 month old baby boy (who is just the cutest) that I hardly see. When he called I was watching “The Office Temps” and really wanted to watch the whole episode. But with such a great invite, the pear, I went to visit him right away. The pear was pretty good too. And there were no lectures, thank god. The visit was pretty good. Charles, the baby, was a bit cranky, he’s got the flu. He giggles now and ohhh its so adorable. I borrowed a few dvds from Chuck, he kinda pushed them on me, will watch them all night tonight.

My chair is broken. A wheel comes off whenever I move around too much. I tried to fix it with packing tape (didn’t have duct tape) and its hopeless. It broke over the Christmas holidays. We had the usual X-Mas gathering and there was drinking involved. Steven had the great idea to push me around in this chair, I guess he went too fast and it tipped over. Slam! I was on the floor, ouch. The wheel broke too, so I had to search high and low for a similiar wheel. And the screw doesn’t fit. Thanks Scuba Steve.

The name is Lisa btw.

Oh! I almost forgot. Chuck gave me a great compliment tonight. He said Charles reminds him of me. Oh I knew that baby was adorable.

Strong Finish

Well the start of my week really sucked, but I finished it off strong. After feeling just bagged on Tuesday I had a good spin Wed am (thanks Lori!) and a good swim that night. It was my week to work 10 hour shifts, so fitting in training can be tough. Add to that Clark leaving on Friday morning, and I was really fighting to get things in. I ended up running my hills on a COLD Thursday night after we went out for dinner (Clark was packing, I might as well run, right?) - and they PA-1121-02H adapter went suprisingly well. I didn’t freeze to death, especially after about 3 repeats. I got up early on Friday am to go for a swim before dropping Clark at the airport (he had a few things to do) and my 3k was not too bad. It’s still strange swimming so slow for so long, but I think it’s doing me good. I hit the gym after dropping Clark off, then it was spin class that night. Other than not being able to see (I can’t hear so I need to see) it was a GREAT class - I seemed to have the legs to go….my heart rate reached 175 bpm at one point, but I seem to recover well PA-1121-02H adapter between sets. Suki and I watched the Olympics for a while after that, then I decided to SLEEP. It was so nice…no alarm, just sleep. I slept until 10am (I was tired, and I knew it). Got up and went for a run. I had tired legs from the night before, but still ran a little harder than I had intended. Oh well. Later in the afternoon I went and picked up my “training wheels” from Dave. I am so worried about wrecking my other ones…then of course I had to go and try them (it was so nice and sunny out). Ok, so it was -3 degrees, but I put on 2 pairs of pants, 1 pair of cycling shorts, Clark’s booties, 3 shirts, and PA-1121-02H adapter a jacket. I also had a touque, neckwarmer and sunglasses…I was ready to roll……SO glad I went, it was awesome. Love the new wheels, I don’t worry about a thing! Tocca is such an awesome ride too! Nothing against spin class, but I love riding outside! I’m planning a long ride and run tomorrow, as long as it warms up to at least -5. So I just missed 1 run, and 1 gym workout this week. I think it will be ok!

Week off work

Isn’t it strange that having a week off of work leads me to do less? I haven’t updated in a while, but my Nov 13 - 19 training went fairly well. I did most of my runs, all the rides (including one outside) and the swims. I was looking forward to a week off of work, but had lots planned. My week off was pretty uneventful. I did some baking and prepped some Christmas stuff, not as much as I should have. On my run on Monday I managed to hurt my heel somehow. About 7 km in I took a step and it really hurt. I hobbled the other 1.5km in and put some ice on it. It was really strange for the rest of the week. Sometimes it hurt, sometimes it didn’t. I did some stretching, found some heel gels and it seems to be a bit better now. Did some “stairs” at the Apple bowl on Tuesday that were ok, but my heel was sore after. Clark and I did a short 5 km run on Saturday that didn’t seem to hurt which was good. Think I’ll try for the long run later this week and see how it goes. Still managed my 4 rides (3 spins + 1 outside) and 3 swims (the one on Wednesday was good where I held some better pace times for the 300’s) and 3 runs, albeit a bit short because of the heel. I did go to the gym 3 times too, so I guess I didn’t do as bad as I felt. I was lazy today though, Clark and I did some Christmas stuff and I just couldn’t bring myself to go to the gym or run, mostly because I know how much he’ll be away in the next few weeks, I’ll have lots of time to train then without him being around. Anyway, I’ve posted my schedule for this week, we’ll see how it goes…with Suki Christmas on Saturday it could be a busy one!

Hectic Week

Well training this week was ok. It started off good with me completing all the workouts that I had planned, and even an extra bike to work day (I’m loving the riding to work - it’s so refreshing!). I did all of the weekday runs, including an easy feeling 10k that was quite fast, and ran my hills on Thursday. I did my easy 6 km run after working 10 hours on Saturday, and came home after 10.5 hours on Sunday to start my long run (at 7 pm - ugh). Unfortunately, my long run didn’t go as planned….my legs were just dead…they felt awful and sore, after about 4 km. I ran and ran, and after one of my walk breaks, my legs were just too sore…I thought I had better stop running, fearing injury. I only did about 25 km, when I had planned about 35 km, so that was disappointing, although I could tell my body was tired from working all weekend (I need to get a desk job so I can rest my legs!). I am not deterred though…I’ve put in many good long runs, and I think that the taper for the marathon will do me some good. (I figure that I’ve done at least 1 long run of 25+ km every week since the Desert Half Ironman July 10th.) Then I was supposed to have Monday the 19th off after working all weekend…..not so, after an early morning phone call from a sick worker pulled me back to work. This has thrown off my planning for the week a bit as I was planning to head to Golden this weekend so Clark and I could meet up and go to his Grandma’s 75th birthday party. I think I have managed to get Thursday off to give me a 4 day weekend instead, so that should be a bit nicer, but I think I’ll split my training between here and Golden a bit. Can’t decide when I’ll drive there either. We’ll see, I’m sure I’ll manage to fit it all in somehow. Congratulations to my parents who have BOTH signed up for the Okanagan Half Marathon - I’m sure they’ll do great after this weekend completing the 5 km Terry Fox Run x 4!!! Anyway I completed all of last week’s workouts, although the long run was shorter than I had hoped. I’ll post a new set of plans for this week, maybe that will help me arrange my week better!

Already?

Well, I’m alive. I’ve been wandering around drooling blood here and there. I try to clean it up but I can’t see it, which makes it an impossible process. Sorry for those of you who live here after me that aren’t color blind. I feel by the wetness on the ‘i’ key that my keyboard is also feeling my furry, whoops. I remember the whole process, they just made me feel like I was drunk. I felt absolutely no pain, but I distinctly remember them yanking out my biggest one and all three of them saying, “oh, that’s big”. I asked to see it but they seemed surprised that I had asked and said I could see it later. I remember pushing them a little because I was so curious. I’m not very persuasive with gauze and utensils in my mouth. So check these out, the big one must have left one hell of a hole.
